Today, when we go through the news papers, watch electronic Media, first thing comes under our observation is mostly more about crime, corruption, terrorist attacks, murders, scandal etc. This is not only that we read but also we practically experience every day. There are a few tyrants and terrorists who have perturbed the peace and happiness in the whole world.
Mahatma Gandhi once says, “When I despair, I remember that all through history the way of truth and love has always won. There have been tyrants and murderers and for a time they seem invincible, but in the end, they always fall — think of it, always.” This is true that we can see in the life of Ashoka and many others but the reason is never human rather opinion, belief and behaviour.
The Knowledge of Buddha has changed Ashoka completely. He became noble and a powerful emperor without sword after Kalinga war. Today, we are in the same circumstances and desperate for a big change, a great peace, intrinsically and extrinsically, both.
Only one way now remains which is “A Path to Peace” and “An Art of Living” which is the teachings of Lord Buddha which are simple and practical in nature unlike Vedantic philosophy. He declared that everything is impermanent or transitory. He proclaimed Four Noble Truths:
( a) Sorrow,
( b ) Cause of sorrow,
( c ) Cessation of sorrow, and
( d ) The path leading to the cessation of sorrow.
